Walking and hiking have been a popular pastime in Bulgaria for generations. The country is criss-crossed with way-marked paths leading you through mountains, valleys and villages. There are several beautiful walking areas close to the campsite that offer tranquillity, the beauty of nature and wonderful scenery.
Local Walking Trails
Alternatively, the campsite is located in the breath-taking valley of Televets, where you can ramble along open field tracks and across meandering streams.
Please ask in reception for maps of the local area.
The Rock, Gorna Oriahovitsa
The stone is rather a plateau, which has become the emblem of the town. The nature trail runs along the right bank of the Yantra River. Its highest peak is called Stone which is 439 meters high. Near the top you can climb stone nature trails to enjoy the diverse flora and fauna, within a protected Peony meadow. To the top takes about an hour. The route is not difficult, but ultimately more rocky and steep. There is a tarmac road which takes you almost to the top and then stone paths continue. There is a mountain hut with a cafe and some picnic areas with fire pits if you prefer to take a BBQ with you.
Lakoto Arbanasi Park
This eco trail winds its way through forests and along gentle streams until it emerges at one of the best viewpoints over Veliko Tarnovo. The Tsaravets fortress is clearly visible along the route and views over the red stone roofs of the old town can be seen as the trail makes its way to the village of Arbanasi.
